I am a die hard SRK fan and nothing can ever deter me from that opinion. It has been 18 – 20 years since he has been around in the film industry and ever since his first movie I have been his fan. Now to clear the cloud, I know that TZP had no SRK and for a SRK fan it would have made more sense to write a review on OSO. And honestly, I would have loved to do that but wouldn’t do any justice for writing reviews on SRK movies because for me they have always been full of entertainment, fun so I would never be able to bring out the bad element of the movie.
Why I then choose to write on TZP? Well, it is very difficult for a SRK die hard to love a non SRK movie and trust me this is true for all the other die hard fans as well (if I may take the liberty of saying that). I like a lot of non SRK movies as well but not loved any to the extent of writing a review ever on them. But TZP was a story different from commercial cinema and yet fitted in so well. Most of the actors in the movie were new (except Aamir), keeping in mind the fact that they would have acted in theatre but not in any other commercially hit projects in the past. I was awestruck by the performances of each one of them. And definitely it could have only been projected by a director like Aamir Khan, who did an amazing job of bringing the best in each one of them. Be it Darsheel or the role of his parents or his elder brother or his teachers.
I am sure by now most of the people would have seen the movie, not once but twice or thrice or many more times. And I am proud of watching it thrice myself. The portrayal of relationships (be it parent – child, teacher – student, brother – brother, friend) is so simple and yet so captivating. I have been fortunate enough that my parents never subdued to the societal pressures & pushed me to the core to do exceptionally well but instead always encouraged to give my best and face all my fears on the face. I could relate to the movie because ever since my growing up we have read about students committing suicide when their 90% marks were also not sufficient in getting them to good schools. I remember my school days when getting a good %age was all about trying to impress everyone around – be it teachers, parents, friends. I also remember fellow students who used to be shaken up because of bad marks and the misery they would go through when telling the same to their parents. So I am sure the scenario depicted in TZP is something everyone would relate to in this era because the competition is reaching newer heights each day and every parent wants their child to excel.
The scenes I liked the most:
- When Darsheel & his brother are talking in the night before falling asleep & he tells his brother that instead of going to school, he bunked school.
- When Darsheel is standing outside the class & all the students passing by are making fun of him (one scene I guess everyone would relate to J)
- When the song “Maa” plays in the backdrop & Darsheel is in the hostel.
- When Aamir, the teacher, goes to Darsheel’s house and ridicules his parents for being unaware of what their child is going through.
- When Aamir fights with the principal about the problem Darsheel has and how he helps him overcome it.
- When Aamir paints Darsheel’s face in the painting competition in the end & Darsheel’s reaction to see that.
There are many more scenes noteworthy in the movie but these scenes needed a mention because they swept me off my feet. I am sure everyone would have their own favorites and feel free to mention them. :)
I am glad Aamir decided to make a movie on Dyslexia, which until years ago was unknown and, if I am say so, is, even today in smaller cities. He has captured the essence of the subject very well and has very subtly educated everyone on the topic. All kudos to him and the entire crew who worked hard on this project and it shows that the hard work really paid off well. I know my review wouldn’t justify even 1/4th of the movie’s spirit but this review was more to honor the TZP team for coming out with such a beautiful movie. Especially Aamir for bringing out the best in everyone as it has been his patent for years now. I can’t wait to watch him again in Ghajini now.
Lastly, out of sheer chance if anyone happened to miss this movie then mark my words that you indeed have failed to notice something beautiful. Even if you are not a movie buff & not an Aamir fan, it doesn’t matter. This movie definitely needs to be watched once if not twice or thrice or many more times. If for nothing else, then simply for the depiction of different relationships at different levels. My belief is that there wouldn’t be a single soul who can’t relate to this movie in some or the other way.

I am happy you liked the movie and shared your view. SRK is an entertainer and he says it openly that he is here to make people laugh and entertain unlike Aamir who believes to work in the movie which he believes in. The character which he feels he can relate to. I mean Bhuvan of Lagaan is completely different from Akash of Dil Chahta hai. There are striking differences between the two characters, starting from the way they deliver dialogues & the way they come out as a personality. Now AK is living the character of his new movie Ghajini for which he has shaved off his head. So i think they really try to live the characters they portray in any movie. But yes, i would really never do the mistake of comparing them with the likes of Jhonny Depp, Harrison Ford, Denzel Washington, Tom Cruise & many other Hollywood actors. These 2 industries are class apart and comparisons are impossible.

Though I have liked the movie, As the Story and the treatment to the screen play is different.Graet Acting from Darsheel who lived the Charcter.
But I beg to disagree about Acting Ability Of SRK And AK.
Our heroes never forget their image.
So Bhuban Of Laggan is clean shaved and his dress is spike clean and his dialogues (Written by a Urban Dia. Writer is as good as any City people).
About SRK less said is better. Only in “Chuck De” he tried to be the character.
If observe Jhonny Depp in Nick Of Time and in the Pirates you will get my point.
