One of those days of the week,
My energy levels are never at peak;
All I can think of,
Is when I would go home.
I wonder why there is ever a Monday,
After a fun filled weekend, it all seems so lame;
Sitting in the office, with eyes on the window,
Looking for something more.
The time doesn’t pass easily,
Every minute makes you crankier;
All I want is to run away,
And catch on my sleep that I missed to get up today.
Is it my fault that I didn’t rest on weekend,
And happily went out partying;
Without realizing the pain I would go through,
When this would pass and I’d have my famous Monday Blues.
I question my husband all the time,
“What it would be like;
If Monday too was a holiday,
Then the fun would be here to stay”.
Promptly comes the reply,
“Then Tuesday wouldn’t go by;
You simply need a reason,
To not work & pass on the burden”.
Maybe only I feel that ways,
But then who really cares;
After all there are 5 days to work,
And only 2 days for fun.

Hi Bhavana,
when I was bachelore and had nothing to do in that interior backward area, i chrished monday.. at least i could see the office birdies that day...
and after marriage I like sundays more....
as far as poem is concerned, its soo good and rich with words that reveal the real feelings about that bloody Monday morning.........
ah... anyways tomorrow is Sunday so lets forget about monday
I have to work 6 days.. so sunday is more significant for me.. so why to waste sunday in worry ing about Monday

Your poems are light, carefree and filled with fresh points of view and certainly fun to read.
These lines from your poem are really delightful:
The time doesn’t pass easily,
Every minute makes you crankier;
All I want is to run away,
And catch on my sleep that I missed to get up today.

Dear Chanchal ji,
heheheh you have caught me absolutely right this time. I used to yearn for sundays when i was in school and now for weekends. So i guess nothing much has changed from then to now heheheh.. Thanks for recommending the kiddish effort though.. all in light of fun.. :)

Dear Bhavna
When I was in Class I ( It is For all those who passed SSC or Metric From Vernacular School),
there was Bengali poem about Robibar( Sun day) .
In that poem the poet wailed as if he is child, why Sunday comes after all six days of the week. He suggested it should come after every three days.
I remembered that poem for your cry for 5 days for fun and two days for work.
Had i been God I could have blessed you with that.
Since I am Not, You go on hoping.........
With Best Wishes
Chanchal

Hi BHAVS,
Hey you have become a very good poet. I didn't know you were so emotional and sensitive. You have good taste of literature, too. I have seen the books you have read recently. good ones. keep doing. Reading increases Knowledge. Knowledge gives confidence and confidence takes you across all professional an personal obstacles and ordeals in life. Keep going. By the way, on your poem i have this to say:-
Work and fun must not be linked,
Like Nose for eyes can not blink;
Work brings you stress and strain,
Fun time removes all that pain.
They are like two banks of a river,
Running side wise but never enjoin;
In life's sojourn they stay together--
Like the two inseparable sides of a coin.
Cheer up. Fun at the time of fun; and work at the time of work. Both are Positives and negatives of life. At different times, replacing each other. BTW--A very good poem. You are good. keep going. Love & affection. Regards. Rajee.
